Pala Municipality is situated on the banks of Meenachil River and has a rich and prosperous past. The word Pala is said to have been derived from the word ‘Palazhi’. Early settlers came here in AD 1000. Pala market, a place famous for hill products was established by 1736. The Agri-farmers produced a variety of hill products and exported to countries around the world.
Pala Town, which is a doorway to the famous pilgrim, centres Sabarimala and Bharananganam is now the hub of development activities.
